Engulfed in Darkness

At the tender age of 13, Aabrielle Spear found herself engulfed in a darkness that seemed inescapable. Bullying had plagued her since she was eight, leaving her feeling isolated and driving her to self-harm. The weight of these struggles led her to a moment of desperation where she attempted to end her life.

Finding Support

But that was not the end of her story. Aabrielle's path took a significant turn when she joined Loma Linda University Health's SHIELD program. It was here that she began to confront her pain and embrace a new path.

Tools for Healing

Aabrielle shared, 'Now I have tools to help myself and the confidence to tell my story. Even though the struggles didn't go away, I know I have a system of support to help me through.' Her healing journey was not instantaneous, as she poignantly noted, 'Healing came, but it took time.' Her story offers hope to others facing similar battles.
