Son of Satan
Nicky Cruz was the most feared gang leader in New York City. As leader of the Mau Maus in Brooklyn, he had stabbed, beaten, and terrorized countless people. His childhood in Puerto Rico was marked by abuse - his parents practiced witchcraft and called him "son of Satan."
Violence was all he knew. He felt unredeemable, beyond help, cursed from birth.
Every Piece Will Love You
Then a skinny preacher named David Wilkerson walked into gang territory and told Nicky, "Jesus loves you." Nicky held a knife to David's throat and said, "You come near me and I'll kill you."
David's response changed everything: "You could cut me into a thousand pieces and lay them in the street, and every piece will still love you."
The Chains Were Shattered
In 1958, at a rally in St. Nicholas Arena, Nicky's hardened heart finally broke. He surrendered his life to Christ, and the chains that had bound him since childhood were shattered.
The "son of Satan" became a son of God. The gang leader became an evangelist. The man who had been cursed found blessing. Today, Nicky Cruz has shared his testimony with millions, proof that no generational curse is stronger than Christ's redemption.
