The reason God gave for never flooding the earth again, the evil yetser of the human heart, was word for word the reason He gave for sending the flood. Humanity stayed exactly the same. The altar was what changed. The olah and its reyach nichoach, the pleasing aroma, point straight to the fragrant offering of Christ.

Then he built the first altar in Scripture, and over its smoke God made a promise that still holds every spring, that seedtime and harvest will never cease.
